On Monday, August 11, 2014, at 10:10am, Galax Fire was dispatched to a vehicle versus a residence at 6764 Carrollton Pike in the Midway Heights community. A commercial Pepsi truck was travelling west bound Route 58 during rainy conditions. He crested Faddis Hill, when he began to lose control of the truck. The truck swerved off the right side of the road, and it went through several residential yards. It came to a rest after crashing through the living room of the above listed residence. Fortunately, no one was at home at the time of the incident. The driver, Donald Wayne Goode, did not sustain any injuries. Galax Fire contained a minor diesel fuel leak. Pipers Gap Rescue and responded to the scene. The Virginia State Police investigated the accident, and the driver was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
