On Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:51am, the department was dispatched to set up a landing zone for Pipers Gap Rescue at Oakland School. Pipers Gap had a cardiac patient needing to be transported to a North Carolina hospital. Firefighters landed the helicopter on the baseball field behind the school, and assisted with patient loading. The department was on scene for just under one hour.
