The department was dispatched for a vehicle fire in the Walmart parking lot on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 1:48am. Upon Engine 3's arrival, firefighters found a Ford Taurus heavily involved. Attack crews extinguished the blaze with the bumper line. Crews remained on scene for approximately one hour. Galax PD assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported. The vehicle belonging to Michael "Smiley" Anthony Bryson of Galax was a total loss.
