On Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at 2:11pm, the Galax Fire Department was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Pipers Gap Road and Elkhorn Road. Upon arrival, the fire officer reported no entrapment. A 2004 Chevrolet SUV was attempting to turn left onto Elkhorn Road onto Pipers Gap Road, when it was struck by a 2000 Chevy Pickup towing a trailer. The drivers of both vehicles were from the Galax area. Two subjects were transported to Twin County Regional Hospital by Pipers Gap Rescue. The Virginia State Police is investigating the accident.
