On Sunday, May 10, 2015, at 1:37pm, the Galax Fire Department was dispatched to 250 Cold Springs Lane in the Baywood community for a structure fire. The occupants reportedly had gone to town for groceries, when a neighbor called them to report the fire. Independence Fire Department and Baywood Rescue Squad assisted at the scene, and the Grayson Co Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fire with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). Further charges are pending in the case. The displaced family was reportedly staying in a friend’s camper until they can find a new home.
