Shortly before 2am, on Sunday, February 22, 2015, Galax Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Hillsville Fire Department with a working structure fire at 1570 Old Galax Pike. The structure was fully involved. Carroll Fire & Rescue members found the resident seeking shelter in his vehicle. Hillsville Fire, Carroll Fire & Rescue, and Galax Fire remained on scene for approximately 90 minutes. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced resident.
