At approximately 8:20am, on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, the fire department was dispatched for a fuel spill at the Galax Wilco Hess (509 East Stuart Drive). Members contained the spill with speedy dry. While assisting at the scene, one firefighter was overcome by the gas fumes. The fire department requested that Galax Grayson EMS respond to the scene. They treated and transported the firefighter to Twin County Regional Hospital. The firefighter was examined and released by the hospital.
