The department received a call at 2:45pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 to assist Galax/Grayson EMS with a subject pinned under a vehicle on Chestnut Drive. Rescue 4's crew found an SUV on its side with the driver partially ejected out the passenger side window. While Galax/Grayson EMS members attended to the patient, firefighters carefully lifted and cribbed the vehicle. Firefighters then assisted EMS personnel with removal and loading of the patient. Galax/Grayson EMS transported the patient to Twin County Regional Hospital. The patient was later transferred to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. Galax PD, Virginia State Police, and Fender's Body Shop assisted at the scene.
