Structure Fire-Bedsaul Road

The fire department was dispatched on Friday, August 24th, at 6:51pm for a structure fire at 290 Bedsaul Road. While members were en route to the station, heavy black smoke was visible from the hollow. First officer on scene reported a fully involved structure with power lines down. He requested mutual aid from Hillsville Fire.
Upon Engine 2’s arrival, two attack crews began a defensive attack. After knocking the fire down, Hillsville Fire arrived and assisted with overhaul. Galax Grayson EMS, Galax Police, and AEP assisted at the scene. Carroll Co. Sheriff’s Office investigated the fire. The home belonging to the Anders’ family sustained heavy damage. The fire department remained on scene until 10:30pm. Members spent another hour and a half cleaning and resetting equipment.
